Luke Ramsden, Deputy Headmaster and Director of Safeguarding for the St Benedict family of schools, says, "Our Pastoral Heads at St. Benedict’s have enthusiastically embraced the Global Inclusive Teaching Initiative (GITI) and we are now starting to cascade those lessons to all of our staff. We feel that GITI is much better than many other online training programs as it is has been thoughtfully produced and is pitched at exactly the right level . Unlike other platforms, GITI avoids being ‘preachy’ and instead motivates colleagues to reflect on their own teaching methods and professional practices. This empowering approach fosters a genuine desire for self-improve”

Within St Benedict’s, Luke spearheaded efforts to make the school a model of safeguarding and pastoral care, prioritising the happiness of every student. Recognised for his dedication, he was honoured with the Pastoral Leader of the Year 2021-22 award by the NACPE. Outside the school, Luke takes on roles as an ISI inspector and speaker at educational conferences, sharing insights on safeguarding, pastoral care, and data utilisation for excellence. 

Additionally, Luke serves as the Chair of the Independent Safeguarding Panel for The Safeguarding Company, which is behind MyConcern. Luke remains deeply committed to supporting student wellbeing, promoting school inclusivity and equality, as reflected in his role as Chair of Trustees for the School's Consent Project charity and as an advisor to the Global Equality Collective. Luke's remarkable work across various organisations earned him the prestigious NAPCE 2023 award for 'Raising Awareness About Pastoral Care.'
